Project Description:
The site comprised of thirteen separate structures all required the removal of ACMs prior to soft striping. Certain structures required divorce cut to separate them from buildings due to remain.
Key Challenges:
Demolition was required to take place adjacent to a live Nursery School which was required to stay open this took place over a weekend. Dust and noise needed to be controlled on the site, therefore regular monitoring took place along with site audits carried out by the AR health and safety team. Daily communication with the client, daily site briefings/toolbox talks with all AR demolition operatives and letter drops to residents were undertaken.
Key Health and Safety Risks:
- Removal of non-licensed asbestos-containing materials.
- Demolition of thirteen structures.
- Break out slabs and foundation up to 1.5m below ground level.
- Break out hard standing areas.
- Removal of drainage.
- Crushing of arising to 6f2 grading and stockpiling on site.
- The removal of all redundant waste arising from the site to appropriate facilities including the provision of all necessary waste transfer certificates.
