New Fleet Additions at AR
At AR, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of enabling works and demolition contracting — not only in the quality of our delivery but in the strength and reliability of our fleet. We're excited to announce the latest enhancements to our transport capabilities: two brand-new roll-on roll-off (RoRo) skip lorries that reflect our ongoing commitment to service excellence, operational efficiency, and driver wellbeing. Our drivers were involved in every stage of the specification selection process, helping us to achieve the right solution.
Introducing Our New Fleet Members: Scania 420G and Scania 560R
The first of our new additions, the Scania 420G, is a high-performance workhorse, replacing a previous unit and set to take on our local operations. Built for reliability and flexibility, it’s ideal for day-to-day skip movements and plant transport around the region. Equipped with a mechanical sheeting system and versatile enough to handle a range of skip sizes — 20, 30, and 40 cubic yards — as well as plant bodies, this lorry is a perfect fit for our demands.
The second and more specialist addition is the Scania 560R, a powerhouse designed to operate both locally and over long distances. As an enhancement to our fleet capacity, this lorry is built to go the distance in every sense — with cutting-edge features that make it a standout in the industry.
Performance, Comfort, and Versatility Combined
What sets the Scania 560R apart is its suite of advanced features, tailored to deliver on productivity, manoeuvrability, and driver comfort:
- Full air suspension for smoother rides and load protection
- Revolutionary axle and steering configuration that enhances traction, tyre wear, and tight-space handling
- Trailer capability, allowing the transport of two skips in a single journey for greater efficiency
- Spacious sleeper cab, thoughtfully specified with TV, microwave and coffee maker
With the 560R, we can carry multiple skip sizes or plant equipment with ease, across our UK operations — while ensuring our drivers are supported with the amenities they need.
Built to Enhance Versatility in Enabling Works
These fleet upgrades significantly enhance our versatility as an enabling works specialist, allowing us to respond more dynamically to the diverse demands of our projects. Whether it's handling waste removal, transporting heavy plant, or navigating constrained sites, these vehicles give us the flexibility to adapt quickly and efficiently — supporting seamless project execution from start to finish.
Mike Henderson, MD for AR, commented "Our people are at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we invest in the right kit to help them do their jobs well — delivering exceptional enabling works with the flexibility our projects need.”
Designed with Our Drivers in Mind
Both vehicles have been specified with direct input from our drivers at every step of the specification selection — the people who know best what it takes to deliver excellence on the road. From comfort and visibility to functionality and layout, their insights have helped us create a driving experience that supports performance and wellbeing in equal measure.
Backed by Scania Maintenance for Peace of Mind
To ensure maximum uptime and reliability, both the 420G and 560R are enrolled in Scania repair and maintenance contracts. This guarantees ongoing service support and proactive upkeep — keeping our operations moving smoothly and our clients’ projects on track.
At AR, these additions are more than just new lorries — they’re a reflection of our investment in capability, versatility, our people, and our promise of service excellence.
